What is Bowen Therapy?

It is believed that Bowen therapy may reset the body to heal itself by performing moves around joint proprioceptors, fascia, moves at the origin, insertion or belly of the muscle where receptors are located, stimulating the immune system by activating lymphatic drainage and by detoxification at a cellular level. Bowen therapy has been practiced on humans (all ages) as well as animals. This technique was developed by Thomas Bowen in Geelong in 1950s. He believed that certain moves on the body had particular effects in alleviating human suffering. He performed 13,000 treatments per year in his busy clinic.

Dr Shala Rasouli is a research scientist and she holds a PhD (PhD, Bachelor of Science with Honours) in cancer research and immunology. Additionally, Shala has completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) and is also a qualified Bowen therapist with a certificate IV in Bowen therapy.
